Microsoft's advice was included in a post to some company blog last week, if this elaborated on the massive change to the servicing model for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. The new plan was announced in mid-August.sRather than offer individual updates -- which have patched one or more discrete vulnerabilities -- starting today Microsoft will issue cumulative updates for visio 2010 standard and 8.1. The cumulative model, which debuted this past year with Windows 10, offers the items in all previous releases combined with the new fixes. More to the point to enterprises, however, is the fact that cumulative also means the updates cannot be broken into their parts.
For decades, Windows users have been able to apply a person patch and reject others, or accept most fixes but block one or more which had proved flawed or even dangerous. That practice continues to be invalidated through the conjoined nature of the new updates.
The loss continues to be among the most debated -- and criticized -- facets of office 2016 home and student , and IT professionals have voiced exactly the same unease about today's change to Windows 7 and 8.1.
